High Gas Prices, Steep Tariffs: MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany Supports Policies Raising Costs On Wisconsin’s Working Class

MADISON, Wis. — Coming off the most expensive Labor Day weekend in recent memory with gas prices reaching record highs, Wisconsinites are now hit with Canadian retaliatory tariffs starting today in response to Congressman Tiffany-backed U.S. tariffs. Farmers are already reporting concerns about their bottom line, saying tariffs are “another thing on the list that we can’t predict” as input prices become more uncertain and profits go down.

“MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s cost-raising agenda is raising prices on working Wisconsinites and causing damage to Wisconsin farmers’ and manufacturers’ relationships with Canada, our most important trading partner,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Congressman Tiffany has been in full support of every destructive tariff and the war-of-choice in Iran that is pushing gas prices, groceries, and the cost of other everyday items sky-high no matter the cost to Wisconsinites.”

MAGA Congressman Tiffany has been Washington’s most enthusiastic supporter of Trump’s costly and destructive tariff regime, voting twice to protect tariffs on Canadaearlier this year despite the toll on Wisconsin businesses, farmers, and families. Attacking  “one of Wisconsin’s most important trading partners” could be disastrous for Wisconsin dairy farmers and heavy equipment manufacturers who face steep duties on exports to Canada and will be forced to raise prices or cut profits.
