Macron Urges India Partnership on AI, Space, Clean Energy
"The question is not whether India innovates, but who will innovate with India," Macron said, describing India as "a very great nation of innovation" that has become "indispensable" in global technological development.
Macron announced that France and India had jointly adopted a landmark roadmap targeting 2030, built around a shared vision of "safe, open, secure, trustworthy, responsible and ethical" AI — a framework reflecting both nations' commitment to responsible technological advancement on the global stage.
The French president lavished praise on India's remarkable technological milestones, including the celebrated Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, and urged expanded bilateral collaboration spanning clean energy, health research, and cutting-edge advanced technologies across multiple strategic sectors.
Long-standing cooperation in space also drew special mention, with Macron highlighting that the jointly developed TRISHNA Earth-observation satellite is on track to be launched from India as early as next year — a symbol of the two nations' deepening scientific alliance.
Macron affirmed that France and India believe in "cooperation, open research, respect for international law and respect for independent nations," adding that stronger links between researchers, entrepreneurs and students would be key to the partnership's future.
Prime Minister Modi traveled to France to attend the landmark Bharat Innovates summit in Nice — a prestigious event being held outside India for the very first time, under the auspices of the France-India Year of Innovation initiative.
